I know people who have done a darkroom in their bathroom in an apartment. Temporary setup of course, but you can do it. Once I did a photo shoot in a hotel room and as well as negatives I used photo paper (4x5 camera) and developed it right there in a pan in the shower. It was a negative on paper so I had to scan it to reverse it, or put a shitload of light through it to make a contact print reversal, but anyway, you can develop things anywhere with a tiny setup if you're willing to go through the hassle.
I'm hopeful that the next place we move to has more than one bathroom, then I would strongly consider investing in the necessary equipment, although I suppose just developing the film for later prints would be easily feasible and doesn't take up much time.....hmmm the gears are turning. I think perhaps I'll do that.
